My Goal

My goal is to create a 2D RPG for mobile phones. As a basis for this, I've used the asset from 0x72 (https://0x72.itch.io/dungeontileset-ii). I now have a game in which you can control a character with a virtual joystick, attack enemies with a sword, and open chests containing at random coins or health. The game is a two-dimensional role-playing game set in a dungeon. The game doesn't have a deep storyline yet, making it challenging for me to come up with a good title for the game. The most tangible aspect of the game at this point is the environment. Dungeons are generally not known for being well-lit, which is why I've titled the game "Eternal Darkness: Light Bringer". The title is catchy but somewhat generic and not very distinctive compared to the many games out there. I hope that over time, the game evolves a story emerges, and the right title will naturally come to me, or perhaps you'd like to make a suggestion #calltoaction.

I envision short levels for this game that you can quickly play while waiting for the bus, in the doctor's waiting room, or during bathroom breaks. I believe mobile phones are particularly suited for quick gaming sessions. If you're looking for extensive levels that you can play for multiple hours in one go, a PC or console might be more suitable. However, what I definitely don't want is a repetitive game where you're just start grinding to get better or stronger, without much variety or surprising plot twists. I prefer a good story with interesting missions, depth, and elements of surprise.

User Engagement

What the game currently lacks is a good story and level design. I know I'm not the best game developer. There's still a lot to learn. I hope to receive a lot of (positive 😉) feedback, tips, and assistance from users and enthusiasts. I know a little about everything, but there's nothing I know everything about, the curse of being a generalist. My current knowledge has brought me here, and don't get me wrong, I'm proud of it so far. But I want to go further, and I hope you can and will help me with that.

But first let me know if you think there’s room for another 2D RPG. Would you play the (finished version of this) game?

In my ideal situation, I would develop a game in which users are closely involved in the development process. Creating a game that excites people and allows them to fully immerse themselves in the game is my ultimate dream.

Let me know if I've sparked your enthusiasm to test, play, or help develop this game into a top title. Please be gentle this is my first ‘game’ I let loose in the world.
